El 1 de julio de 2020 en la Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid Jerzy Nawojowski, carmelita descalzo polaco, leyó su tesis doctoral titulada:
“Un proyecto de vida espiritual en las cartas de santa Teresa de Jesús”. El director de la tesis fue Dr. Juan Antonio Marcos Rodríguez. El tribunal presidido por Dr. D. Pedro Rodríguez Panizo y compuesto de tres vocales Dr. Juan Antonio Marcos Rodríguez Dr. D. Fernando Joaquín Millán Romeral Dr. D. Francisco Javier Sancho Fermín y el secretario Dr. D. El epistolario de santa Teresa de Jesús (1515-1582) es una obra compuesta por más de 450 cartas, escritas en su casi totalidad cuando la autora ya ha alcanzado la madurez mística y humana. Teresa, a pesar de vivir de manera totalmente transparente y entregada solo a Dios y al diálogo con Él, se cartea con más de un centenar de destinatarios (conocidos hoy día) con el objetivo central de comunicarse y gestionar su obra fundacional. Son muy pocas las piezas en las que no trata directamente este tema.
Teniendo en cuenta la peculiaridad del contenido y el género literario de las fuentes analizadas, el proyecto de vida espiritual emergente se ha construido, no solo desde el mensaje explícito de las misivas de Teresa, sino también desde el mensaje encriptado que caracteriza estos escritos y la lectura de los mismos. Las aportaciones principales de esta tesis son: la sistematización de la recepción de las cartas en sus diversas ediciones españolas, y la determinación del mensaje netamente espiritual de su contenido, tomando como clave a las Tres Personas de la Trinidad.
La tesis se desarrolla en cinco capítulos. Los dos primeros analizan uno de los pilares del proyecto bipartito de la vida espiritual, fundamentado en los componentes culturales y formales de la comunicación epistolar de Teresa. Estos apuntan hacia la experiencia de Dios, contenida en las cartas, experiencia que con insistencia se expresa en la vida cotidiana, donde se revela su cara más auténtica.
Los capítulos tercero, cuarto y quinto, investigan el otro pilar de esta tesis. Su carácter es netamente teológico y espiritual, y se deriva directamente del contenido del epistolario teresiano, y se presentan en relación con las tres personas divinas: Dios Padre, Jesucristo y el Espíritu Santo.
El Dios Padre como realidad fundante y originaria del ser humano en una triple dinámica: pasividad - actividad - pasividad. Jesucristo como modelo de la relación personal y la presencia que acompaña y guía al ser humano. Y el Espíritu Santo, el Gran Escondido tras las relaciones humanas, pero, al mismo tiempo, como la puerta de acceso al otro, siendo la fuerza dinamizadora de la vida que lleva a la realización de la Sabiduría divina en el mundo.
“A project of spiritual life in the letters of Saint Teresa of Jesus”
The epistolary of Saint Teresa of Jesus (1515-1582) is a work consisting of more than 450 letters, written almost entirely when the author had already reached human and mystical maturity. Teresa, despite living a life totally transparent and solely devoted to God and to dialoguing with Him, was in contact with more than a hundred recipients (as known today) with the central objective of communicating herself and managing her founding work. There are very few pieces in which this topic is not directly addressed.
Considering the peculiarity of the content and the literary genre of the sources analyzed, the project of emerging spiritual life has been constructed, not only from the explicit message of Teresa's missives, but also from the encrypted message that characterizes these writings and their reading. The main contributions of this thesis are: the systematization of the reception of the letters in their various Spanish editions and the determination of the distinctly spiritual message of its content, taking the Three Persons of the Trinity as the key.
The thesis is developed in five chapters. The first two analyze one of the pillars of the bipartite project of spiritual life, based on the cultural and formal components of Teresa's epistolary communication. These point to the experience of God contained in the letters, an experience that is insistently expressed in the everyday life where her most authentic face is revealed.
The third, fourth, and fifth chapters investigate the other pillar of this thesis. Their character is purely theological and spiritual, and is derived directly from the content of the Teresian epistolary, and they are presented in relation to the three divine persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The Father God as a founding and original reality of the human being in a triple dynamic: passivity - activity – passivity; Jesus Christ as a model of personal relationship and the presence that accompanies and guides the human being; and the Holy Spirit, the Great Hidden One behind human relationships, but, at the same time, as the gateway to the other, being the driving force of life that leads to the realization of divine Wisdom in the world.
